Point Reyes Backpack Trip

We spent the Martin Luther King Junior weekend on a short backpack trip in Point Reyes National Seashore. In order to make this trip work, we parked two cars, one in the south end of the park near Bolinas and one in the center of the park. We then hiked from north to south along the rugged California coast camping in two sites along the way.

This is a map of our approximate route:

We were joined on this adventure with our friends Casey, Marta and David. In fact, davidandmarta.com did such a great job describing our hike that we're going to leave the prose up to them. Check out their post. It is a pithy narrative of our fantastically outdoorsy MLK weekend. Enjoy.

Holiday Wrap-up

We had a great holiday road trip. We drove from Mountain View to Seattle and back for Christmas with Olivia's family. Along the way we stopped in Mount Shasta for some relaxation and snow shoeing. On our way back we visited Chris' family in Eureka California. These are some of our photos:

Transportation magic

I woke up this morning in Arhus Denmark and am now in San Carlos
waiting for Olivia. In order to get from my hotel room to here I:
Rode a taxi to the Billund airport
Took a plane to Frankfurt
Sat on a bus to the international terminal
Flew on a plane to SFO
Walked to the BART to San Bruno
Transferred to another BART to Millbrae
Hopped on a southbound CalTrain
Am waiting at San Carlos to take a car with Olivia back home.

And all this in just under 20 hours. Its exhausting but amazing at the
same time.
